Re: Folfirinox and fatigue
Hi Sue - my husband Clive did become progressively fatigued after each cycle. Don't know if it was the cumulative effect of folfirinox. He had a break after 6 cycles and regained a lot of strength and began eating again. All seems to be a bit of trial and error with this particular chemo regime - we...

Re: lurking on the fringes for 10 months
Jayne, I don't log onto the forum much since my husband died last year and haven't posted on your thread before but just happened to read your last message and can't bear the thought of you sitting tonight with your world falling apart without knowing how many of us out there feel your pain. This is...

Re: My Journey So Far
This is so inspiring Mark and will give hope to many people. My husband Clive died last October, just a few weeks before his 60th birthday so I understand what a landmark this must be for you. Funnily enough we are off to California in the summer (though with BA fortunately !). Had originally intend...

A lovely man who was a great comfort and support to many users of this forum throughout his own illness. So sad to hear this news.

Re: Lost in a nightmare
Amanda - I so hoped you wouldn't be in this position. So many of us have gone through the same nightmare recently with husbands who were all far too young to be leaving us so soon. Ironic isn't it that finally, Phil seems to be getting the care he deserves. All my love to you and your family. We'll ...

Re: Lost in a nightmare
Oh Amanda, this is just awful. You and Phil have had so little decent quality time since his diagnosis. It's been one crisis after another. Hang on in there girl. You will find the strength from somewhere. Sending lots of virtual hugs.

Re: Palliative care concerns from Marie Curie
I am so glad you made your views known Julia and it's clear from the response you received that this was taken very seriously. I always felt such a huge sense of responsibility to do the right thing for Clive throughout his illness but never more so than in those last few days when he was not able t...

Re: Palliative care concerns from Marie Curie
I thought same too. Bitter experience has proved that palliative care is really hit and miss. We have birthing plans for new mums, why not death plans for people approaching end of life that medics are obliged to follow where possible ? Big issue for us was that Clive's decline was rapid and unexpec...

Re: Palliative care concerns from Marie Curie
Thanks for sharing this Steve. My complaint about Clive's treatment in hospital the weekend before he died is still under consideration by the NHS board concerned. I don't know what it is like elsewhere in the UK but here in Glasgow there are NO palliative care specialists available at weekends. A s...

Re: Carls story
Hi Rob I've been in your shoes and know what it's like waiting for your loved one to come back up from theatre - tough gig ! Just wanted to say don't be too distressed if Carl is in pain and not a happy bunny when you see him. This sometimes happens after Nanoknife. Clive was pretty miserable. Think...

Re: Devastated
I am so sorry for your loss Cheryl. You and Steve had such an awful time of it. I don't know if it is of any help to you at all but I think often of the words spoken at my husband's funeral - today your loss and grief is very raw. In time, if you allow it, you will move to a gentler place, a place w...

Re: Overwhelmed - husband diagnosed, in hospital - decisions
Hi Larrybee - this is just awful isn't it ? All I would say its that it seems to me that surgery is only ever offered if there seems to be a really good chance of success so I would certainly wait until you have heard from the surgeon. I would add that you should discuss with him or her, what would ...

Re: Chemotherapy options
Hi everyone Thought I'd give you an update on how my complaint about Clive's treatment is progressing. I didn't sleep for two nights after receiving the initial response from the NHS. Most of it, particularly as regards his 'care' in hospital the weekend before he died was a shameful attempt to cobb...

Re: How are all your Ladies coping ?
Hello ladies It's now 3 months since Clive died. Some days are ok. On others, I make packed lunches for the kids, wave them off to school and go back to bed and cry all day. I have great friends and a really supportive family but nothing can fill the void that Clive has left. Everything that happene...

Re: My hero, lover and best friend gone..
Oh Cathy. I was thinking about you earlier today and wondering how Jonathan was doing. It's been a wee while since you last posted and I feared the worst. I am so very sorry. I have no wise words, just huge respect for the way in which you both dealt with this awful disease and made the most of your...
