Re: Any help or guidance appreciated

Your mum has done fantastically well Jackie, Good on her and good on you, being in her corner. I think you are right to be firm. Everyone will make the assumption, and it is a reasonable one, that this pain is to do with her pancreatic cancer in some way. But it may not be - she could have a stomach...

Re: Always cold to the extent of shivering

My daughter gave me a wonderful present for Christmas - an electrically heated throw - heats up almost instantly. Great on a cold day - might be worth investing in - my cats adore it!

Re: Poorly dad

Hugs Jacqui, this is hard isn't it? You can still spend time with him, talk to him. Hearing is the last sense to go and he will know you are with him. Look after yourself and come and talk to us anytime. Your dad has done really well and so have you. Lots of love, Sue, xxxxx

Re: Dad has been admitted to hospital

It is so hard isn't it? There are people who can help - Macmillan for example or other local services. Our GP offered antidepressants early on so a chat with the GP might be worthwhile. But at the end of the day the whole thing is depressing.... When my dad was terminally ill he didn't want to talk ...

Re: The Benefits of Hydrogen Peroxide ...Another con?

Ermmmmmmm, I agree that cells need oxygen - but isn't that what we breathe for? If we want more oxygen in our blood wouldn't a few deep breaths (for free!) do the same thing?

My money is on it being bunkum - but then what do I know???

What is the evidence - peer reviewed of course!

Re: Bereavement Support Groups

Thank you Deb, Paul and Jeni. I have rung up today and booked my place. There is also a memorial service to go to next month, again organised by Macmillan. The bereavement support group starts in April and goes on till September, luckily meeting on my one day off each week (perhaps it was meant to b...

Bereavement Support Groups

I have been sent an invitation to a bereavement support group that starts in April and meets monthly for 6 months (run by Macmillan). I wondered if anyone had any experience of such groups. I am thinking about going. I, like so many others before me, am reaching the stage where support is fading awa...

Re: Diagnosed December 2nd & still waiting for help

Big, big hugs Linda, what a nightmare you find yourself in. It feels to me like a lot more badgering will have to be done to find our what is going on. Can you ring the specialist nurse this afternoon? If it were me I'd ring now - before everyone goes home for the weekend. Our MDT used to meet on a ...

Re: REAL LIFE STORIES

I am sorry to hear you have joined our band. You may have read some of our stories and if you have you will have learnt that behind every 'patient' is an advocate. And, frankly, it does no-one any good to be 'patient'. Have you been allocated a specialist nurse? If not you should have and can ring t...

Re: A lovely story for young children

The dragonfly story was given to us in a little booklet by the undertaker so that we could give it to children coming to the funeral. A lovely story that has given me much comfort too. I love the story of Small and Large as well. Thank you

I agree Deb, this is peer support at its very best. Just to say you can email Jeni at PCUK directly, her email is jeni@pancreaticcancer.org.uk and she will happily facilitate you swapping email addresses so that you can communicate directly. I too think of you all and send you my love, Sue, xxx

Oh Paul, you are amazing! I think I was on automatic pilot for a long while with a very foggy brain that is just beginning to lift (some days). Take it gently and look after yourself. Hugs, Sue, xxx
