Re: New Year

Hello Deb, What a lovely post about the New Year and moving forward. I too have finally got round to filling in the calendar for 2013 - I have still put in Steve's birthday and deathday and our anniversary and the date of his funeral! Those dates will always be engraved in our hearts and minds. It w...

Re: wendy, and now my son , how differant

Oh My Dear Friend Laura - I just dipped in here to see how you were all doing and read about your son. I am so very sorry for your loss - a different one to that which some of us are experiencing, but a loss nonetheless. My cousin committed suicide in March last year and all everyone could comment w...

Re: this time of year...

Hello to all of you going through the next phase. My dear Steve passed away on 23rd December last year and it is our day to try and keep strong as a family. This afternoon I took one of my sons, Steve's sister and brother in law to the place where his ashes are scattered - I planted some primroses t...

Re: bri's progress

Hello Laura, It's been a while since I checked in to see how you are doing and was saddened to hear about your dear friend Wendy's passing. I was also sorry to read that Bri has had a setback, but it sounds like your team have things under control and I know for sure you are in Bri's corner and won'...

Hi Laura and Bri, Just signed in to the Forum to see how everyone is getting on and so delighted to read how well Bri is doing. You must be over the moon both of you. It really is great to hear of a success story - long may it last. Hope you are both enjoying the Jubilee celebrations, if not the wea...

Re: My Amazing Dad

Hi Anthony's daughter, I am so sorry to hear about your dad. I lost my husband Steve to PC on 23rd December. The funeral wasn't until 17th January. You have done well to open up to us all on here. It is a great place to vent frustrations, cry whilst typing, get lots of loving support and advice from...

Re: chemo failed - whats next

Hi Drew, I am so sorry to hear that the GEMCAP hasn't worked for Heather. My husband Steve was on the GEMCAP regime and it didn't work for him - the cancer spread to his liver. They offered him the FOLFIRINOX regime based on the fact that he is normally fit and healthy. It is truly brutal and in hin...

Re: Steve Didn't Make Christmas

Hello lovely ladies, Thank you for all your lovely words and kind wishes. It has been a truly awful time especially with the holiday period to get through when everything was in limbo. Now we have returned to the normal working week I have had a very productive, if harrowing, day. I collected the de...

Steve Didn't Make Christmas

Hello all, I just wanted to let you know that Steve passed away just before 11 pm on Friday 23rd December. Last weekend they told us that his care would be purely palliative as there was nothing more that cold be done. The embolisation to stop his bleed may or may not have worked but it wasn't in St...

Steve is Nearing the End of his Fight

Hi all, I haven't posted for a while because, as some of you know, events take over, and you just don't get the time to sit and "dump". Steve was in hospital a couple of weeks ago with the neutropenic sepsis, which he got over, then we had another appointment with the consultant scheduled for Monday...

Re: Steve's Cancer has Spread to his Liver

Hi all, Thank you for all your advice and words of encouragement. Steve came home on Thursday, after his endoscopy in the morning. They reckon the ulcers are a combination of chemo and Ketorolac, the chemo for the mouth/throat and the Ketorolac for further down the stomach. We were given Difflam, Ge...

Re: Steve's Cancer has Spread to his Liver

Hi Laura, Thanks for thinking of me (and Steve). I haven't been posting because we've been having a bit of a rocky ride over the last few weeks. Steve started the Folforinox chemo three weeks ago on a two week cycle. They fitted his PICC line on the Monday, gave him the chemo on Tuesday, he came hom...

Re: Advanced Pancreatic cancer – stomach cramps

Hi Trevor, My husband, Steve, is about to start on Folfirinox next week. We are at the nurse-led clinic tomorrow, then he's having a PICC line fitted on Monday ready for chemo starting Tuesday. Do you have any tips for us. He is scheduled to have two cycles then have a ct scan to see if there's any ...

Re: Help please re mums treatment

Hi Rich,
I've just read all your posts, upto and including the latest one with your sad news. Please accept my deepest sympathies and take the only bit of comfort that you can at this time, in the fact that your lovely Mum is no longer in pain.

Re: Folfirinox

Hi Gill, and Jeni, The good news is that Steve has been deemed fit enough for the FOLFIRINOX chemo. He's just spent another 4 days in hospital trying to control his pain, and they seem to have managed this by prescribing Ketorolac, first with a syringe driver, and now with tablets to bring home. The...
