Re: Whipple Procedure.................

Hi Gill, Thanks for that - his wound is 'granulating' (funny how quickly you pick up the terminology isn't it !! But then, if you don't, you can't keep up with the conversation ...) but the district nurses reckon it'll be another month yet before it heals. This was not the best of news for my husban...

Re: Post Whipples surgery constipation

Dear Lynn, Now I know FOR SURE that you are Wonderwoman - you must be extremely brave to do a bungee jump ! Just the thought makes me go cold .... well done and I hope it goes really well. Do you have a fundraising page anywhere ? Somewhere where we could sponsor you ? There are so many brave and in...

Re: My husband's recent Whipples op

Dear Anne, I'm really sorry that you're having healing poblems - it must be so disappointing to get to the end of the 3 week stretch, only to be told that it'll be yet another 3 weeks. I couldn't agree more about having a sense of humour and being able to ease the tension by having a laugh. Anne, yo...

Re: Post Whipples surgery constipation

Hi Lynne, That's fantastic - well done for raising all that money ! That really is quite an achievement. I think I saw the walk you are going to do advertised on the site - it looks a beautiful route which (hopefully !) should make it a little bit easier to get through those 23 miles. Best of luck. ...

Re: My husband's recent Whipples op

Dear Annr, Richie and All, Just to give you an update, and anyone else who may be experiencing the same problems post surgery, the drainage of lymphatic did eventually dry up after about 2 weeks. I would not have believed this at one time as it was as much as 2 litres/day .. however, the wound is no...

Re: Post Whipples surgery constipation

Dear Richie, Jeni and Claire, Thanks for all of your advice. I suppose when you consider that he's not eating 'normal' quantities of food, there's no reason to have 'normal' bowel movements, ie. daily. So we should really just relax about it as you say . He says he feels uncomfortable when he hasn't...

Re: Post Whipples surgery constipation

Dear Lynbo, I'm sorry to hear that you lost your husband - words are rarely of little comfort. However, I am so grateful to people like yourself who still take the time to check this website and give advice when necessary. I could not have got through this, and been as strong for my husband as I was...

Re: Post Whipples surgery constipation

Thanks very much - as you say, we can give it a go. Anything to make him more comfortable ... He hates prunes but I pureed some up with yogurt and honey and he still started to gag eating it ! I think he does like liquorice so that might be a good one to try too. My Dad swears by senna but I'm not s...

Post Whipples surgery constipation

Dear All, My husband had a Whipples procedure approx 4 weeks ago and is suffering with constipation. Our GP prescribed Movicol for this but just over 24 hours after he started to take it, he developed a rash on his legs and lower tummy area. Our GP doesn't think it's Moviol related and the district ...

Re: My husband's recent Whipples op

Dear Richie, A big hello to you too ! Thank you for sharing your experience - my husband had his op nearly 3 weeks ago and has been home for 1 week. I couldn't find any reference to open wounds either and feared that my hubbie was the only one so I was so relieved when Anne posted her reply, and now...

Re: My husband's recent Whipples op

Dear Anne, What a fantastic idea ! Incontinence pads - why didn't I think of that.. my husband has been using hand towels to mop it all up and I couldn't agree more about heaps of washing. That's great that you can have a shower again - must really feel a bit more like normality. I give my husband b...

Re: My husband's recent Whipples op

Dear Anne, I'm so glad that you are finally 'on the mend' - that must have seemed an awfully long time. Thank goodness it's finally healing - that must be such a huge relief and also make daily life far more comfortable. Thank you for replying as I was beginning to think that my husband was the only...

My husband's recent Whipples op

I am new to this site but have already read many of the postings and have been greatly encouraged by your support to one another. My husband had a Whipples procedure on 10th February 2011. He is now home but has about a 5 inch section of his operation scar open and covered by a stoma bag into which ...
