Pale stool/low bile production

Hi Warning: I will be describing my Mom's stool. My Mom is still having pale stool despite taking a lot of Creon, and sometimes the stool floats. I think this has some relationships with her difficulty in gaining weight, despite eating much more food compared to my sister. If the stool sinks, then s...

Re: Help with floating stool and weight loss

Hi Nurse Jeni, Thanks for replying. You are correct, I am not in UK, but based in Singapore. I figure the practice in Commonwealth states should be quite relevant. The oncologist only told us to take 2 Creon (in Singapore the capsules only come in 10,000 Units, or 12,000 USP [American Units]) per me...

Help with floating stool and weight loss

Hi, My Mom had her Whipple 7 months ago and went through 12 cycles of Folfirinox which ended 2 months ago. She is now eating very well and quite a lot, but struggling to gain weight. She has been taking 36,000 Creon with meals, and for her weight (45kg), that would be the appropriate dose. Sometimes...

Re: Creon

Hi Jo, I'm sorry for your Mom's issue. My Mom also forgets about Creon a lot, and many times she takes it in the middle of the meal. But the doctor always told us to take Creon before she started eating. Weeks after diagnosis, she frequently has diarrhoea and extremely foul gas, but it gets better w...

Port-a-cath issues

Hi, I have a question regarding portacath. During my mom's third cycle of Folfirinox, the nurses were having trouble flushing my mom's portacath. The main issue was there was no blood outflow from the line, despite continuous inflow. But after several times trying, like asking her to put her hands a...

Re: Mom was Diagnosed with Borderline Resectable PC

Hi Jeni, Thanks for your reply. My mother is getting Creon. She was able to gain 2kgs of weight within 8 weeks post Whipple. She was seen by a dietician once, and was given medium-chain triglycerides oil to up her calorie intake (now not taking anymore). But after noting my mom has gained weight and...

Mom was Diagnosed with Borderline Resectable PC

Hi, In 2010 I signed up to a Multiple Myeloma forum because my Dad was diagnosed with the disease. I was devastated and hoping that I would never ever have to sign up to another cancer forum. My Mother has been relatively healthy until she complained with some gastric problems in October 2018. She h...
