Re: Hello - first post

Hi Essee. Digestive problems are par for the course with this disease. I know from experience that what I can tolerate food wise one day I will not be able to the next and also the crazy cravings that you can have! Your dad will 'intuitively' know what he can eat, try not to force him to eat anythin...

Re: Hello - first post

Hello Gaffer and thanks for the info. Yes I too had to have a stent put in but luckily there has been no problem with it since. I hope the issues are resolved quickly for your hubby. There are enough other symptoms to deal with without added complications! My exact thoughts were like yours and your ...

Re: Hello - first post

Hello Gaffer. I too am 54, like your husband and was diagnosed with Stage 4 PC. I have had 12 rounds of Folfirinox which ended nearly 12 months ago. I read that your husband has had 19 rounds, my Oncologist is reluctant to give me more Folfirinox stating the toxicity could outweigh any benefits. I h...

Re: Folfirinox..how many rounds?

Hi Vasil. I think each case is different, but from what I can gather the Oncologist have a 'wait and see' approach. I finished my 12 rounds in Nov 2019 and have had CT scans every 3 months. The Oncologist feels more Folfirinox would be more harmful than beneficial due to its toxicity. Hope this help...

Re: Picc line

Hello. After my Picc line was removed I suffered quite bad shoulder and arm pain for a couple of months. It was especially bad at night. Apparently this is not unusual. The pain slowly subsided although the area where the line was inserted still feels kinda strange (though not painful) a lot of the ...

Folfirinox..how many rounds?

Hello everyone. I would like to hear from anyone that has completed 12 rounds of folfirinox then at some point later had further rounds. Or from anyone that has completed 12 rounds then requested more but been refused. I completed 12 rounds in Nov 19, have had no treatment since and am now requestin...

Re: Ascites/Advanced symptoms

Hi Anna. I too developed ascites after my PC diagnosis. Your mum is fortunate in that she didn't have to wait too long for the drain. I had a couple months with abdominal fluid before I finally got ( demanded) CT and drain. My ascites came back quickly and I had around 10 drains in total. It isn't p...

Re: Does anything neutralise the taste you get as a side effect of chemo?

Hi. I had 12 rounds of Fol and had a variety of side effects with it ranging from quite bad infections to neuropathy and yes those weird taste changes! I we t from wanting pretty much nothing but cottage cheese and ice cream one month to rice pudding the month after to wanting strong curries the mon...

Re: Newly diagnosed with Stage 3 locally advanced PC

Hi Val. I have initially been put on a 12 week chemo regime, i.e 6 treatments. They will take another CT scan at some point to see if the chemo is having any affect on the tumour(s). Yes, your wide range of digestive symptoms are pretty normal and I certainly cannot eat like I used to. Eat small amo...

Re: Newly diagnosed with Stage 3 locally advanced PC

Hi Valjean. I have the same diagnosis. I have had two rounds of Folfirinox so far and by far the worse symptom for me is extreme fatigue/tiredness. Walking is an effort even. There are no guarantees that chemo will reduce or even stall the tumour but if the Oncologist suspects it will then you will ...

Some general advice please.

Hello. My name is Paul. 52 years old. Like many on here I was diagnosed with PC after a few GP visits for tummy problems, then suddenly a a few weeks ago developed jaundice and was taken into hospital where they did a CT scan and bloods which showed an inoperable mass on the pancreatic head and near...
