Travel insurance...
Hi all As mentioned previously we are looking at planning lots of nice things over the next few months with my dad. I just wondered what happens with the above - we were looking at a weekend at center parcs which is obviously quite costly. I know things can change over night with pc so wondered if a...

Re: Update on my dad - gemcitabine chemo
Thank you everyone for taking the time to reply. Nicola - I am so very sorry to read about your husband. It really is a terribly cruel and unpredictable disease. I am glad you have found some comfort - my dad's worst fear is to die in pain so I completely agree with what you are saying. Much love an...

Update on my dad - gemcitabine chemo
Hi everyone We saw my dad's consultant yesterday who agreed definitely no more folfirinox. However she was happy for him to go ahead and try gemcitabine in a few weeks once he has recovered more from his last bout of neutropenic sepsis. I just hope he tolerates this much better and obviously it can ...

Re: My mum - Stage 4 PC with liver mets
Hi Dee, So sorry to hear about your mum. My dad is 68 with stage 3 locally advanced pc (so also inoperable). He was on folfirinox but only had 2 rounds before deciding it was just too aggressive (ended up in hospital both times with neurotrophic sepsis). He is now waiting to start gemcitabine in a f...

Re: What happens now?
Thanks again Nicola - so helpful. My dad is currently on 60mg slow release morphine and rarely needs oramorph anymore. He is also on gabapentine and paracetamol but oddly since his first round of folfirinox his pain has been much better. He was hopeful that meant the tumour had shrunk but his latest...

Re: What happens now?
Thank you so much dmschampion. I know every story is different but that's really positive to hear especially given the similarities even to the fact my dad had c diff too!) .... He has really suffered as your husband has.... Can I ask how he did find the gem chemo - did he have many side effects at ...

Re: What happens now?
Thanks both for the help and kind words. He has just got his appointment through with his consultant on the 14th so can ask lots more questions then. Just going on what was said last time, she actually didn't want him to have the second round of folfirinox due to how he reacted to the first round - ...

What happens now?
Hi all, I only posted on here once before just after my dad was diagnosed and you were all so helpful. We are much further on now and it isn't looking too hopeful sadly. My 68 yr old dad was diagnosed with stage 3 locally advanced pc in April. He has had 2 rounds of folfirinox and ended up in hospit...

Re: Help please - what to ask the doctors
Thank you so much for the reply - some really good things to think about there. It's a really good point about the prognosis as I was so unsure whether to ask..... sadly my sister's mother in law died from this awful disease a few years ago so we know how horrendous it is or can be. Thank you for th...

Help please - what to ask the doctors
Hi all - it's my first post on here. My dad was diagnosed with PC 2 weeks ago aged 68. We have not had a huge amount of information so far other than they don't think it's spread beyond the pancreas and is still small but surgery doesn't look like an option right now due to the proximity to a blood ...
