Re: Gemcitabine suggested...what to expect

This weekend has been such a heart wrenching one. My mother in law has shown no signs of getting 'back on her feet' as we initially expected following the suspected OD last week. She is eating very little, and sleeping the majority of the time. There is still confusion although not as much. The pain...

Re: Gemcitabine suggested...what to expect

Morning I spoke to one of your support team on the phone yesterday at length which helped. In response to your questions, yes, slurred speech, hallucinating and in and out of sleep. When they discharged her they really didn't give a conclusive explanation but 'thought ' it may have been the meds. He...

Re: Gemcitabine suggested...what to expect

Glad to say we went ahead with the Christening. It was sad as she was still in hospital but we have photos to show her when she is able. We are still unsure what is wrong. They have released her (Monday) but still seeing things and slurring words. Very emotional. The doctors didnt really confirm if ...

Re: Gemcitabine suggested...what to expect

Thanks for your replies. The first session was Monday (11th) and up until today seemed ok, although a little tired. The anti sickness tablets obviously worked but today is a different story. The doctor has been (as suggested by the hospital treating) and now she is on her way to her local hospital. ...

Gemcitabine suggested...what to expect

Hi This morning my mother in law (stage 4 PC with Metastatic liver) has been to see her Oncologist who has suggested Gemcitabine chemo over 6 sessions, however, contrary to most of what i have read about this drug, they are only suggesting 2 weeks treatment then a weeks break rather than 3 weeks. Do...

Re: How much time?

dandygal176 such great and simply put advice. Being new to the PC treatments I am not very converse with all the terminology. I will certainly look at these three options. Her doctor called this morning which has perked her up as he said 'there is so much they can do nowadays.' I know he is trying t...

Re: How much time?

We have an appointment with Dr {name removed - moderator} at {name removed - moderator} a week tomorrow. I called them to see if they could update us and the next day the appointment came through. It seems that no one in the family is talking about it at the moment and I understand this as until the...

Re: How much time?

Thanks for your supportive messages and advice. We are still awaiting the call from {name removed - moderator} so until then no decisions can be made i guess. I remember reading so much on the internet about my own mums cancer (Vaginal) but to be honest its very rare so little info was really helpfu...

How much time?

I am new to the forum and after nursing my own mother with stage 4 cancer I am aware of the fact that knowledge is quite often power. I am now in a situation where my mother in law (who i care for so much) has just been tole she has stage 4 Pancreatic cancer with no option of an operation due it als...
