Re: Mum's diagnosis
Hi Sue Hope you're keeping OK,I am still getting over losing my dad back in Nov, its been over 3 months and it still really hurts I think it's because I am haunted by what I saw and all his suffering I think it will take a while to fade. I know that at least he is no longer suffering like your mum h...

Re: frustrated
Hi Sheena
My dad suffered terrible heartburn, he had gaviscon advance and the chewable tablets, they helped a little. When my dads appetite went downhill he liked ice cream, scrambled egg and cup a soups, think he found them easy to digest.
My thoughts are with you both

Re: Mum's diagnosis
Keep strong Sue, your mum knows your there for her and that's the main thing. I too saw a counsellor before my dad died, she was wonderful and it really helps to talk even though it's so painful to talk about. I cried all the time but she said I wasn't the only one, couldn't cry in front of my dad s...

Re: Radio interview
That's brilliant news Leila, as you say if it helps raise awareness and helps with prognosis for at least one person you will have done your dad proud. I would like to listen to it too
Hope all goes well

Re: Mum's diagnosis
She certainly isn't going down without a fight. She is truly remarkable. Hope you are finding some time for yourself too, I know all too well what it's like, you don't have time even to think straight.

Re: End of life care
I agree Sandra it is very interesting. Especially on communication, it states how much the patient wants to know about their prognosis and end of life care. Unfortunately my dad didn't get the option, they kept telling him even when he didn't talk about it! That is my argument entirely. Thankyou for...

Re: My Dads diagnosis
I must agree with Didge, I think it should be up to the individual. My dad was vulnerable and unable to deal with the news, I'm sure he isn't alone there. I understand they shouldnt be given false hope, but neither do they need it ramming down their throat continuesly. When my dad did seem to perk u...

Re: My Dads diagnosis
Leila I can sympathise with you so much, that must have been terrible for you. My dad went very quiet and withdrawn, and I guess he just gave up. He wouldn't eat, didn't want to go out, basically he thought what's the point! Which I can see where he's coming from. Why would you fight anymore? When t...

Re: My Dads diagnosis
Thankyou all for your responses.
I don't know what the answer is, but if my complaint stops another family going through what we have it will be a result.
Will keep you posted

Re: My Dads diagnosis
I haven't been on here for a while since my dad passed away in Nov 2015. I would just like to know peoples views on the end of life care of their loved ones. My dad found it difficult to come to terms with his diagnosis, and maybe it was his way of dealing with things, when he was admitted to hospita...

Re: Mum's diagnosis
Hi Sue I really feel for you as we were in the same position as you a couple of months ago You know the end is coming and its just when? It's the worst thing we will have to ever do, and its devastating to watch. My dad died at home, he was like your mum just sleeping more, he wasn't aware when he d...
