This year, the National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE) produced the first ever guidelines for the diagnosis and management of pancreatic cancer. We have updated our patient charter to include these guidelines. The patient charter explains the care you should expect and receive during diagnosis and treatment, including managing symptoms and the emotional impact of pancreatic cancer. It’s based on all UK guidelines for treating pancreatic cancer.

The NICE guidelines are aimed at health professionals. Because we think it’s important that people with pancreatic cancer understand what the guidelines mean for them, we have produced a version for patients and their families. This explains the guidelines, including the different tests and treatments, and it links through to further information. We are pleased that NICE have supported us in producing this version.

You can download and order the patient charter, NICE guidelines and the rest of our information from our website: www.pancreaticcancer.org.uk/publications
