Pancreatic Cancer worry

Cdcmoon

Recommended Posts

Apparently my ultrasound report mentions all the organs except pancreas I assume it would be checked ? It said so in my leaflet ? I'm worried sick now. At the moment I have no real pain just discomfort on left side and a feeling of bloating/something in my left side. I am belching a lot and have a constant feeling of going to the loo but not much comes out I'm really petrified I have to wait till next Friday for a gastroscopy :(

I have constant gurgling sounds now like I can feel/hear it move across my from left to right. Constantly going to the loo and passing large amounts of stools. I'm petrified that no one has taken me seriously I spoke to another GP on Friday and he said he's never met anyone my age with PC. Are the doctors really dismissing my symptoms??? I've started to lose weight again I really hope this is anxiety :(

Hi CDC

I can see where you're coming from. You now think that they may not have scanned the Pancreas because it was not mentioned in the report? I think you need to clarify that for your own peace of mind. Quite often things are not mentioned because there is nothing unusual. However as others have said, you do not appear to have symptoms of PC. We are not doctors and even the nurses cannot tell you for sure, only test and scan results can tell you that. We have had quite a few people here thinking they have pc but to us old timers the symptoms have not seemed right taken as a whole and not cherry picked for the ones that fit. I have cherry picked symptoms myself when I or one of my family have been ill. We can all do it and the times I have been terror struck through my life are many. While sensible to rule it out and put your mind at rest I think you should start a mantra telling yourself you do not have it so that you can return to some kind of normality in the meantime. And seek company, exercise, anything that can take your mind off your worries. Oh and google diet and bloating and put into practice right away and see if you can make a difference.

Gastroscopy was clear apart from a hiatus hernia in my esophagus but they told me medication will help with that.

Feel a bit better, still feel lethargic and stools can vary from solid normal to light brown diahrehea.

Got another appointment in 2 weeks with the Gastroenterologist for the next step.. not sure what will be next he didn't say when he completed the Gastroscopy.

  • 2 weeks later...

Had a follow up appointment after my Endoscopy all clear including biopsy. The Dr wanted to review me in a couple of months but i said it's been going on for so long now i really need to get somewhere with it now and i have been booked in for a CT Scan on Friday 26th. I really hope this is going to be clear.

I have booked a follow up for 2 weeks later, if they find something would they call me in sooner?

Atm I have diahrhea everyday sometimes tan coloured sometimes grey but dr said this is normal? I just have general uncomfortable feeling when I sit up in my upper abdomen and my weight is stable.

PCUK Nurse Jeni

Hello CDC,

Its good news to hear that you have a CT scan booked.

Two weeks is the usual wait to have the CT scan fully reported on, and be seen back in the clinic - this is the normal expected period of time for a review appointment.

Kind regards,

Jeni.

If I had steatorrhea what would this look like? I am currently passing large stools (they come out with ease and seems to be loads of it. They are soft but always sink. I can't really find any pictures.

PCUK Nurse Jeni

Hi there,

Have you ever been tested for Coeliac disease? Helicobacter Pylori also?

If not, it might be worth asking about these at your gp surgery.

Kind regards,

Jeni.

Had my results today pancreas looked normal so I've been told I have ibs. The scan did show that I had 2 small shadows on my right liver 1cm and 1.5cm so I have another ultrasound scan with contrast next week.

Hello CDcmoon,

Do let us know what they found out; I've been having similar symptoms and drs can't find out what is wrong with me. I'm following your posts and wonder if we suffer from the same thing?

Kind Regads,

Joanna

I will. Like I say I've got another ultrasound because of the shadows found on my liver and I have been told I have ibs as pancreas looked normal and so are all my other tests. The dr said these shadows are nothing to do with my symptoms however. Hopefully these will be benign.

My scan revealed they are henangiomas and the dr was pretty confident with that today after I was injected with fluid.

I have a follow up on Thursday my symptoms are nothing to do with what was found in my liver they were found by chance and are common. My gastro dr said he thinks I have ibs as everything else is normal but I will find out Thursday what happens next.

  • 3 years later...

Here I am again. 3 years of dealing with my ‘IBS’ I now have new symptoms and having to go through the same process 3 years ago starting with bloods.

Started with bloating 4 weeks ago appetite was good thought nothing of it but now I have a real pressure in my back behind my rib cage pains which I can only describe as a feeling of something inside my body pushing on my back and stomach (making me bloated) often laying down is better but sometimes I get pain left rib cage through to the back.

Totally have no appetite now every day is a spiral of worry. First it was diarrhea now pale stools for 3 days and I’m going 3/4 times a day. Totally lost. I’m 33 and I’m trying to hard that my drs take me seriously. I’ve been given omeprazole which is not doing anything. I feel so weak, I feel so tight and uncomfortable and I’m so frightened.

As you can gather I suffer from anxiety but this is a new level. I’m so low

I mean could 3 years ago been an early warning? I dunno I’ve felt pretty well just dealt with the ibs.

Last few weeks never felt so gassy from both ends. So weird

All blood tests come back normal. FBC, LFT, Calcium, Amylase, blood sugar etc no inflammatory markers. Booked an ultrasound and referral to gastroenterology. Here we go again...
