Hi all

My dad has just been diagnosed. I read and heard good things about the CBD oil. I spoke to Nikki, one of the nurse specialist and she recommended posting on here to ask about patients experience with it and where they sourced it from. Can anyone advise? any help will be greatly received. Many thanks

HI Sparklyrebecca,

I am sorry to hear that you are hear due to Dad's diagnosis, and I am sure this must be an overwhelming time for you all. From a perspective of CBD oil (this does not contain the THC component you would find in Cannabis) this is available in local high street stores, ie Holland & Barrett and possibly other health food chains. You are also able to purchase this from online providers, such as Amazon and others, however we suggest if buying this from an online store, do ensure that this is from a reputable supplier.

I am aware that some people may be reluctant to share experiences due to the nature of this being a 'cannabinoid' and some of the recent media and legalisation issues with this. Hopefully people will not be put off by sharing some of their experiences with you, and of course please do feel free to have another chat with us if you wish Sparklyrebecca.

Kind regards,

Dianne

Hello my husband purchased the high in THC oil also known as Rick Simpson oil which is illegal in this country and had to be bought via a third party and is very expensive . For 3 months it significantly helped his symptom control in relation to pain nausea sickness etc.., and he didn’t take any prescribed medications at all. Now unfortunately he is on end of life care and has had to stop taking this and is now on morphine syringe driver plus other medications to manage his symptoms. As there is not enough medical information to know what the actual effects of it it’s hard to know what it did in real terms but I do know it gave him 3 months of feeling relatively well and allowed him to have a good quality of life even if only for that short time.

I was anxious at first as it’s not regulated etc..,but our experience was positive not sure if others will admit to trying this but in our opinion he was terminal at 58 years old so nothing was off the cards legal or otherwise.

Hope this helps in some way x

I have just bought CBD and THC oil yes it is expensive but if it helps then all good. I am I bit anxious about taking it. I still haven’t started any treatment, which is worrying me, but I don’t want to make things worse by taking these oils. Does anyone know if they interact with other medications or chemo ?

Hi There week 20,

Thanks for your post.

Sometimes, things like this can interact with chemotherapy.

The best thing to do is to discuss this with your oncologist in order to be sure there is no adverse harm in taking them. They will be best placed to let you know if its OK to continue it with the chemo.

Its a simple case of checking so please don't be anxious to discuss it with them.

Kind regards,

Jeni.

I bought some cbd, very high concentration ( 18 %). My husband tried it once and said it doesn't help, but I think he only relies on chemical medication. I use it for my headache. It works but not for a long tie. Hope this can help.

Your father has advised you the right medicine; it should help; forget what they said about it being a narcotic. In this case, it is used as medicine, and if you follow all the rules, your father will be able to recover. Even those with severe personality disorders such as ADHD, social anxiety, and many others claim to feel better after ingesting or smoking marijuana. This is especially interesting given that the drug is known to cause mental instability in others. The endocannabinoid system regulates essential body functions, including being responsible for metabolism, immunity, cardiovascular system, digestion, and more, so buy edibles in Canada would be the right choice.
