Hi Pete,

Pleased things are slowly moving for you. I do completely agree with PW, you should not have to be chasing, you shouldn't have to deal with people like that. You really need someone to do all this for you. You need to be concentrating on looking after yourself, not causing yourself anxiety seeing how these people are.

I wish you all the best for today, and i hope you get the answers you deserve, and that chemo can go ahead for you asap. Please, if they try and put your appointments back, tell them you have waited long enough and you need treatment to start.

Hi Pete

Just checking in to ask how chemo went, what type of chemo you had and more importantly, how are you?

Hi all. Sorry for the delay in responding. A further update of events so far. Was looking forward to my Oncology appointment for Friday 22 April. However, at approx 4.30pm Thursday 21st my temperature rose to 38.6 and I was feeling really unwell. I contacted the specialist nurse at the hospital and was told to make my way directly to the ward dealing with my illness. I was admitted to the ward on my arrival and given further blood tests etc. The diagnosis is that I have Cholangitis and placed on a course of intravenous antibiotics. Further tests indicate that I have a blockage of the duct from my Pancreas to my liver and that I would possibly need a procedure to insert a stent to bypass the blockage. The Consultant said that he would need to wait until the end of the week so he could get another specialist to assist him. The oncologist nurse has postponed any possibility of chemo until the infection is under control, and that the blockage is dealt with. Unfortunately I am in their hands regarding this, and can only bide my time in hospital, which is extremely frustrating.

Regards

Pete.

Hi Pete, sorry to hear your news that you are in hospital, I think its normal not to proceed with any Chemotherapy treatment whilst you have an infection. How are you feeling otherwise? hope you are starting to improve now you have been on the antibiotics for a while, lets us know how you are doing, sandrax xx

PCUK Nurse Jeni

Hi Pete,

Sorry to hear you have been admitted, and hence the source of the rising temperature.

As Sandra says, hopefully you will start to feel better once the antibiotics deal with the infection.

Meanwhile, important for the stent to be fitted before chemo as well, and make sure you have exact instructions as to what to do if you get unwell after the stent procedure - especially once discharged - who to ring, what to watch out for etc....

The chemo will come once all this is settled.

Kind regards,

Jeni.
