Re: Moving on . . . .

And soldier on we must...but I'm here to tell you that it doesn't get any easier. People say time heals, but it doesn't. People say that you learn to live with it, but I'm 18 months down the line and find myself crying much more and generally just feeling very morose a lot of the time. I feel like m...

Re: This cruel disease

Keith, I've posted this a few times in the past on other threads, and it might be a load of rubbish, but our chemo nurses said napolina plum tomatoes have something in them which helps keep neutrophils up...it might be worth a try. The other thing I did was buy a nutri ninja blender and made my husb...

Re: Feeling frightened

So sorry to hear the diagnosis Sue, it must be a scary time. It's hard to comment on the outcomes of clinical trials as it's new territory. My husband's tumour shrunk with folfirinox, but it hadn't spread outside the pancreas at that time. Your husband will be entitled to PIP payments if he's under ...

Re: Diet help and advice

If you want to contact each other off the forum, message the nurses and they will put you in touch by your email address.

I'm pleased he's picking up a bit Elle, it often happens when symptoms are managed properly and hospices are fab for that.

Re: This cruel disease

Wow...your daughter sounds like one amazing lady and she is lucky having a father like you. My own experience with pancreatic cancer was with my husband...he was 52 when diagnosed, but he had no spread to other organs. He had a good 2 years from diagnosis, but died in September 2016. My dad also die...

Re: Mum diagnosed with advanced PC - head is in a whirlwind

I am so sorry you find yourself here and your circumstances sound tough. I don't know what you can do about your Nan and Stepfather...but I do think as the disease progresses with your mum, whether she has treatment or not, caring for them will be too much for her. It might be a good idea to read Ma...

Elle, heart breaking as it is, it's great that he's got a bed in a hospice, you will all be beautifully looked after and Dad will be kept comfortable.

Loads of love

Re: Help please - what to ask the doctors

In all honesty, it wasn't that bad for us...my husband had two good years from diagnosis, he tolerated chemotherapy well and we lived a pretty normal life...it was only the last few weeks or so that were pretty rough. We obviously had the sense of impending doom throughout that time, but once you're...

Re: Help please - what to ask the doctors

Ok, this sounds similar to my husband (but his tumour was large). I'll jot a few things below, some are just for you to think about rather than ask about. You need to find out if there is the option of chemo, then reassess the situation to see if it's shrunk away from the blood vessel...my husband h...

Re: Diet help and advice

Elle, so sorry to hear that. Both my husband and Dad died in hospital and it was calm and peaceful, we felt looked after and were also given privacy and as much time as we needed with them after they had died. He'll probably slip into an unawareness anyway, so he won't know. All I can wish for you a...

Re: Diet help and advice

Hi Elle, I hope you managed to get through to the nurses and have some good advice to hand. I am surprised he hasn't been given creon to help with digestion, but if he's as far along as you seem to make out, like Sandra says, the eating thing (or not eating as it is) is common and creon may not help...

Re: My mum diagnosed with pancreatic cancer and liver mets after a DVT

Hi Jenrich Sorry to hear about your Mum's diagnosis. Pancreatic cancer is notorious for not showing any (or few) symptoms until it reaches a critical mass and spread to other organs. My husband's cancer had not spread outside the pancreas and he was offered folfirinox, which is a tough regime for so...

Re: This seems to be all happening too fast

Hi I too believe you should make the most of every day. Chemotherapy when he is already feeling pretty rotten, will just make the remaining time miserable...there really is a lot to be said for quality over quantity. My husband fought hard and had 2 reasonable years. My dad was diagnosed with liver ...

Yes...I feel really down in the dumps when the weather is poor, a bit of spring sunshine will work it's magic.
