Re: advice

Hi Dave

Diagnosis of PC can be very difficult as most of the symptoms could easily be mistaken for those presented by much more common conditions. I don't think I need to have any medical qualifications to say you've been messed about for long enough - demand a CT scan now!!

Re: Maestro trial

Leila It is usual for full details of the trial drug to be given to patients for them to read prior to signing consent forms. I should ask your Dad if he has received all the pre-trial paperwork and if not chase them from the trial team. No one should be receiving treatment without this information....

Re: I think my dads journey is nearing its end

Dear Jane

Sincere condolences on the death of your father so shortly after the loss of your mother. He is now at peace and reunited with her somewhere in this great universe.

Our love and prayers are with you at this very sad time.

Re: Feeling Alone

Hi Mogs Welcome to the forum that never stops giving. I am so sorry to hear of your Mum's diagnosis and the insensitive way in which she was informed. Sadly lack of awareness in the GP fraternity is a major factor in our poor treatment of PC which is all too often inoperable by the time conclusive t...

Re: Lost in a nightmare

Leila I think you have maybe drawn the wrong ticket in the Postcode Lottery. Many of us receive superb treatment from medical staff who could not be more caring. It is so unfortunate that you're at the other end of the spectrum and of course you need to fight Phil's corner but please don't demonize ...

Re: Overwhelmed - husband diagnosed, in hospital - decisions

Great news!! Everything crossed for John's continued progress. It will be wonderful for you to share some quality time at home and for Molly to have her master there to worship. One of my Jack Russells, much loved Lola, has turned into a Ninjah seemingly able to make herself invisible to sneak up on...

Re: Kerry Harvey Died Today

A very brave young lady RIP Kerry and God Bless you my dear. People can be so cruel and ignorant which is why our own forum is such an oasis, nothing but love and mutual support. The campaign was hard hitting and controversial but certainly raised awareness as intended.

Re: Overwhelmed - husband diagnosed, in hospital - decisions

Sounds like you and John are having a really tough time. Best wishes for success tomorrow so that he can get home and sit in his chair with Molly at his feet. I've no experience of stents or bypasses, thank goodness but trust they can manage to effect the best option for John without further hold up...

Re: My Lovely Daughter makes the Press

She is such a star, always cheers me up to see her and granddaughter. This morning she's taken my wife to an eye appointment in Chester and she's always there for both of us. I'd been keeping some money I owed to my neighbour for some fencing he'd fixed but he called round and asked me to give it to...

Re: Dad - Recently diagnosed, please help

Dear L Welcome to the forum and so sorry to hear of your Dad's diagnosis with this most pernicious disease. I am a few years older than your Dad and had a similar diagnosis in May 2013. I'm sure Jenni and Dianne will be happy to give you more advice on your Dad's problems if you email or phone them....

PICC line excellence

I have had my PICC line installed this morning and cannot praise my nurse too highly. She took great pains to make sure I was at ease with the procedure and comfortable in myself and then explained every step of the installation so that I knew exactly what was happening throughout. I did not even ex...

Thanks all, your support is so valuable and yes I will kick it's ass!! Greatly cheered on Thursday by my beloved Chester' s last minute winner! We are both fighting for survival so I will make sure that everything possible is done. I should say that all things being equal I still feel very lucky to ...

Re: Folfirinox- seems to be working!

Hi Nikki Give my best wishes to Paul, I'm so sorry he is still experiencing such a problem with coping with his chemo. I'm moving onto new ground myself next week as the Mets in my liver and lung have increased since November so I'm switching from Gemcitabine to combo of Oxaliplatin and 5 FU/Folinic...
