Re: So far so good!

Hi all, I am one of Steve's daughters, Paige, I had attempted to create my own account earlier but managed to mess that up somehow so thought I would just post from my Dad's. I realise in the meantime that the very sad news has reached the forum regarding the passing of my incredible Dad but I reall...

Re: So far so good!

Hi all and apologies for not posting for a while. We have been waiting for Gem/Abraxane to work it's magic! However, we met the Oncologist last week after she reviewed my CT Scan. The outcome is that Gem/Abraxane is not working, all tumours show growth and my Tumour Marker has risen to 6,400. The re...

Re: So far so good!

Hi all, just a quick update on progress. The stent seems to be helping, though I am still occasionally sick. My weight is holding, but I am struggling to recover the lost weight. I also recently spent a night in Hospital as I had a high temperature. They didn't find anything and released me the next...

Re: Mum's diagnosis

Wonder Woman indeed Sue. What great news and I am so glad the medical staff took the time to view the photos with you both. I certainly hope the good news continues and we all know no change is positive. Please give her my best.

Re: So far so good!

Well, I've now had 3 sessions of Gem/Abraxane with only 2 episodes of mild sickness to report. The Tumour Marker is 5,867 but we are giving this a good ignoring for now as the test was after only 2 chemo sessions following a total chemo break of over a month. The tummy / stent does seem to be settli...

Re: So far so good!

I had the Barium Meal test yesterday and there appears to be an issue with the stent. Whilst it is in the correct place and has expanded to it's correct size, the back end of it is sitting at the sharp junction of the Duodenum where it joins the next part of the intestine. The stent therefore seems ...

Re: So far so good!

Regarding the stent, things seem better, but I have still had a few sessions of sickness so am waiting for another barium meal test to see if there are any other issues in this area. I hope the stent has not been dislodged, but the test should confirm this.

Re: So far so good!

Apologies for not posting for a while. I had a week in hospital with an infection after chemo. A few more admin delays, but Gem/Abraxane is finally going ahead today at 12:00(ish). As it is only approved for first line treatment and I am having third line, the insurance has had to pay. I'll let you ...

Re: So far so good!

Thanks all for your continued and unstinting support. The Duodenum stent is in and the Radiologist reports that it was a 100% success from his point of view. The blockage was again worse than expected, with food still in the Duodenum after fasting for 12 hours. This lead to some minor sickness durin...

Re: Mum's diagnosis

You need to build yourself up for the Wedding Sue. Good to see that everyone looks to be present.

Please take care.

Life certainly is kicking you when you are down Sue. I hope your Step Father is ok again soon and that a bit of overdue good luck comes your way soon.

Take care

Re: Folfirinox and fatigue

Sue, I had 10 cycles of Folfirinox and another 16 without Oxaliplatin. The last few months have been plagued with serious fatigue, which is quite debilitating. I have had to stand down from work for now as the fatigue was starting to effect my ability to stay on top of things. It is just sick leave ...

Re: So far so good!

I met with my Oncologist on Thursday to review everything. The PET scan sows enlargement of the tumour plus 2 spots in the Liver. The Tumour Marker has also risen to 4600 which the Oncologist is concerned about. I shall therefore switch to GemCap on Monday, with. Gem/Abraxane the week after (when th...

Re: So far so good!

Several developments here, but not perhaps what we wanted. The sickness has not improved, so I am to have a Barium meal test with a view to fitting a Stomach/Duodenum stent to help. Perhaps more worrying is that my Tumour Marker is up again at 3125. My Oncologist is now convinced that my Folfiri is ...

Re: So far so good!

Well, the Tumour Marker was an unpleasant surprise. It has jumped from 1188 to 2314. I hope the Nanoknife is still the initial cause of this and that it will settle down again. I have emailed the good Prof. For his thoughts and will of course discuss with my Oncologist next week. I must not forget t...
