Re: Begining radiation therapy and chemo

We are now three days from the end of 28 fractions of radiotherapy. It has been difficult. The chemo tablets that were prescribed with the radiotherapy proved too much and we had to stop them. Christmas was spent in hospital on a drip and a syringe driver was used to administer anti sickness drugs. ...

Re: My husband Dan

Everything you have said takes me back to July 2017 when my husband had the same diagnosis and had lost a lot of weight etc. Within two months of starting the chemo treatment, he became more or less his old self. No pain, could eat and gained back all and more of the weight lost. It took a bit of ge...

Re: Begining radiation therapy and chemo

Has had one treatment of radiotherapy this morning but has not yet taken the chemo tablets. Those should be taken with food but so far today he hasn't kept any food down! Will have to get in touch with hospital later on.

Re: Brownish/black marks on soles of feet

Thank you for your reply. Having consulted with Dr Google!!! I have come to the conclusion that this is hyperpigmentation. Feet are dry and cracked but always have been. He has jyst finished the 5Fu treatment and is about to start chemo radiation next Monday. Will mention it then.

Re: My big brother

From what I have experienced second hand by observing my husband I can assure you that the first three or four are tough. The first time you and your companion are nervous. It is scary, it looks bad. There are people there at different stages. . You feel sh...y. And then the angels who are the nurse...

Re: My big brother

Although I sounded as if I was coping when I replied to toodooty Erika has really lifted my spirits in her posts. I am a passionate friend of Dr Google but everything is so negative out there when I know that there must be long (longer) term survivors out there. We all need cheering up now and again...

Re: My big brother

I know how you are feeling and i commiserate withyou. The shock when hearing the news is so overwhelming. However, once he begins chemo he will meet other people who are going through the same thing and that might make him decide to become a fighter. We have been going through this as a family for 1...
