Re: My mum - Stage 4 PC with liver mets

Hi Janine, Sorry to hear your mum is not feeling well at the moment. Hopefully the hospice will sort out her sickness medication soon. It takes a few different types to work out which one is best and once they have found it she should feel a lot better. Therapy is a good idea. There are times when m...

Re: My mum - Stage 4 PC with liver mets

Thanks for your message Janine, how is your mum doing? My mum started treatment last week but this week had a sudden onset of breathlessness. She could only walk a few steps before stopping to catch her breath. So we called the hospital and she had a blood test and her haemoglobin levels had dropped...

Re: My mum - Stage 4 PC with liver mets

My mum hasn't started her second-line chemo yet because she was taken into hospital with sepsis (symptoms were fever, increased heart rate, very spaced out/confused and dizzy) but we caught it early and the hospital gave her IV antibiotics and fluids. She also had another CT scan this week and there...

Re: Should I get a CT?

Hi rufusthedog, Sorry to hear about your mum. My mum (age 67) is coming to the end of her life now with pancreatic cancer and she has told me (age 32) to ask for regular CT scans each year even if I have no symptoms. I know that is a bit extreme, but my opinion is you should go for your one to put y...

Re: My mum - Stage 4 PC with liver mets

My mum was meant to start chemo again but started having dark urine and pale stools and then her skin and eyes turned yellow and she couldn't hold down any food or drink. She suddenly developed jaundice. It was so quick over a few days and she was rushed to hospital. Watch out for jaundice everyone!...

Re: This cruel disease

I am so sorry to hear this news. Kerry was so strong, brave and determined. My family regularly checked for updates and her story gave us hope. This cancer is absolutely devastating and I hope they will find a cure for it one day. My thoughts are with you and your family xx

Re: My mum - Stage 4 PC with liver mets

Just a quick update. My mum last had chemo on 17th January and since then, although her lymph nodes had increased in size slightly, the cancer was stable. So she was given a break from chemo. Throughout this break she had pressure/pain in her abdomen/under her ribs so she wasn't symptom free but it ...

Re: My mum - Stage 4 PC with liver mets

Hi Janine, that is great news! Gemcitabine and Abraxane seems to work really well in the cases that I have seen. It must be such a relief for you both. Hopefully the next batch will help even more! Xx

Re: RIP Erika xxx

This is such sad news. Erika was a huge inspiration to me, my mum and I am sure everyone that she has met or who have read her posts. Every single one of her messages were positive and full of hope. She had such good advice which my mum has followed in her fight against PC. I always shared her posts...

Re: My mum - Stage 4 PC with liver mets

Hi all, Just a quick update on my Mum's CT scan results today after the end of her Gemcitabine and Abraxane chemotherapy. The pancreas tumour and liver mets have not changed since they reduced in the last scan, so this is good news. However her lymph nodes have now been mentioned for the first time....

Re: This cruel disease

Hi Keith, sounds like mixed results from the scan but overall good news that she is in good health with a healthy appetite and leading a normal life. We have been told that my mum can continue on the same chemo indefinitely but we will see what happens. She is hoping to be offered a break next month...

Re: My mum - Stage 4 PC with liver mets

Good luck Kate with your treatment! Looking forward to hearing about it! My mum had her usual blood test before chemo today and they said that her tumour markers are the lowest they have been since we started this journey in July 2018, so that must be good news! I hope everyone is doing ok. I am thi...

Hi Keith. How is your daughter doing? Have you had any news on what happens next after her break? I hope you and your daughter and family are doing well.
