Re: Accelerate Trial

My husband was on a clinical trial before his death and one thing which stood out was the care which was taken to ensure he was fit enough for each dose. However, there is no instant effect so perhaps you ought to be thinking about quality over quantity which is a decision to be taken in conjunction...

Re: Moving on . . . .

Oh Mo, I so know what you mean. It is the little things - no-one to call out to when you come home, the empty chair, the empty side of the bed. I thought I was doing so well - immersed in paperwork, joining the U3A, applying for voluntary work - but someone only has to mention Stephen and I start we...

Re: Thanks for sharing your experiences . . .

That's exactly it, Mo - the new normal. I am still establishing mine. I have been occupied doing admin too and have just received the Grant of Probate. I have also done 2 Powers of Attorney, Health and Financial, so just some i-dotting and t-crossing and then I have to find something to occupy mysel...

Re: Thanks for sharing your experiences . . .

I too am thinking of you as the rain continues and the wind blows. Get rid of everyone as soon as you can (except those you wish to be with you) and relax. You've finished the marathon.
Much love, Sandie xx

Re: Thanks for sharing your experiences . . .

Hello Mo I found it took a while, after Stephen's death in September, for my sleeping pattern to adjust. I too would wake in the early hours, lay there for 2 hours, and then go back to sleep again for another couple of hours. It will pass. I now have regular sessions of 5/6 hours before waking. It's...

Re: Thanks for sharing your experiences . . .

Hopefully by now Peter is tucked up nice and safe in the hospice and you can start to draw
breath. No wonder you are exhausted. Try and think of yourself now - it's important. We are all here when you are ready to talk again. xx

Re: Thanks for sharing your experiences . . .

I second DG's opinion. Ignore visiting hours and just go when you want. They can hardly forcibly eject you. Peter will know you are there and that's the most important consideration.
I spent hours just holding Stephen's hand.

Re: Thanks for sharing your experiences . . .

Hi Mo So sorry to hear the latest developments but, as your night's sleep will attest, he is in the best place and you need the peace of mind of knowing that. As far as a DNR is concerned, we had "the talk" about this and it only refers to a heart attack. The specialist said they can break ribs resu...

I am lost admiration of you. Jeni and Dianne are quite right. You are incredible. You are an example to all fighting this awful disease.

Re: Thanks for sharing your experiences . . .

What a shame you missed your meal out. Very surprising about that quick drop in the blood sugar. Did you mention it to the Macmillan nurse? And did s/he notice the tiddly thing? I know you are soldiering on looking after "your patient" but do ask for advice/backup from Macmillan. YOU ARE NOT ALONE. ...

Re: Thanks for sharing your experiences . . .

Yes, I remember Patience Strong. Bit too wishy-washy for me. Sounds like it's time for some me-time for you. Can you not leave Peter and have a spa day (or half day). Does your local hospice run what I used to call the playgroup where "people with life-limiting illnesses" can meet, socialise, have l...

Oh Mo, I really feel for you. One day at a time, pet.
Yes, gin is an EXCELLENT idea! Or wine.
