Re: My mum - Stage 4 PC with liver mets

Yes, Dee, she will definitely need creon as the tumour is in the head of the pancreas. This is the area that deals with digestive enzyme production and it is likely that will be compromised, creon is a replacement for this. Ask the GP or her specialist for a prescription.

Re: Supplements?

Ask for Scandishakes, they are much nicer tasting than ensure or fortisip. Also ask for procal powder, you can add this to your own drinks (not water) to add calories and protein. It can also be added to food and it has no taste or texture. There are also some calogen shots that are tiny little shot...

Re: My mum - Stage 4 PC with liver mets

Hi Dee, so sorry to hear about your mum, but you've come to the right place for support. I just wanted to make sure you are away that your mum can claim attendance allowance, which is not means tested. She may not feel she needs this, but it's something she is entitled to and will help with parking ...

Re: Severe distention and tightness

They may be fitting a drain just to drain off what is there, or sometimes you can have a drain which is left in as the fluid can return.

Re: Nano knife for Stage IV PC.

Our hospital provided chemo to reduce the tumour and then my husband had the whipples...it's not just Heidelburg that will do that.

Re: Severe distention and tightness

Michaela, I know your doctors have said it's not fluid, but it might be worth asking for an ultrasound. My husband was like this and I was convinced it was fluid, but all the doctors said not...when they eventually scanned him, he had 7 litres drained off...the difference was amazing.

Re: Just my story....Michaela1.x

Well done on getting through the first session and stating your own thread! You ladies will be a fabulous support for one another. I understand your wife's feelings Michaela...I used to nag Nige constantly for just putting up with whatever symptom he had and the fact that he wouldn't seek help...but...

Re: Nano knife for Stage IV PC.

You need Dandygal...she researched nanoknife and I'm pretty sure her dad had consultations...maybe have a look at her threads (http://forum.pancreaticcancer.org.uk/viewtopic.php?f=4&t=1737 ). Also Ruthus's thread ( http://forum.pancreaticcancer.org.uk/viewtopic.php?f=28&t=1700&hilit=nanoknife) If yo...

Re: Holiday Insurance

Try MIA, they specialise in insurance for those with pre-existing medical issues, even terminal cancer.

I think we used AllClear the last time we went away when Nige's had metastasised but it was £650.

Good luck
